Christmas update from the Chairman

AMS chairman provides update for supporters at this festive time

Telford Town Chairman Hayden Dando’s Christmas statement for Telford Town Football Club.

“Hello everybody and I hope you are all set for Christmas. I wanted to share with you what will become an annual update on all things Telford Town as the festive period approaches.

What a 12 months it has been for us as a club, we completed the takeover last January and appointed a board of directors who were a mix of new faces and those who had been club stalwarts and it has been a pleasure to work with them.

We have had many achievements over the last year including - the first team winning the Powell Cup and currently being top of the league, our men’s development side being in the league cup semi final in 2025, the formation of our ladies side who are top of their league and have scored a stunning 92 goals in 9 games and conceded just twice. One of my favourite achievements as a club up to now has to be the addition of our youth set up with teams from Mini Kickers through to under 15’s this season with every age group planned to have a team for next season, watching hundreds of youngsters playing with the Telford Town Badge each weekend fills me with genuine pride and is something we can be proud of as a club.

Off the field we continue to grow both in terms of attendances and what we do away from football, our social media engagement continues to grow as do our matchday attendances, we have regularly engaged with local schools to provide everything from match tickets to visits and coaching from our first team players, we have proudly sponsored Telford boxer Bradley Thompson who has continued to be undefeated and we will continue to support him in 2025. We have also been able to support our community with various initiatives from free use of our club bar through to collecting for and donating to charities with both local and international appeals being held at the Key Worker Nation Stadium.

Our stadium continues to be maintained to the highest level by our amazing Wednesday crew ground team and we are in the process of creating a new food hut which will add items such as burgers, chips and hot dogs to the offering we already have with award winning pies, pasties and sausage rolls as well as the famous AMS Curry.

Overall 2024 has been an amazing year for the club with so much going on, so many new people becoming part of what we do and 2025 promises to be just as exciting as we continue to push forward with our clubs growth plan and long term ambitions. We are really excited for our full time education academy launch working alongside Juniper training, with the next trial date on the 9th of January we aim for it to be the best educational football academy in Shropshire where we can produce not only fantastic footballers but good people.

For now all that remains is for me to wish our Players, coaches, club staff, volunteers, supporters, sponsors, junior players and all of their families a very Merry Christmas and a happy new year”.
